Shadows of the Old World is a two-act Fallout 4 quest series introducing the Underground, a post-war resistance movement operating from hidden bases across the Commonwealth. Led by Gloria Marlowe — a 245-year-old ghoul and former Vault-Tec propaganda artist — the Underground protects wastelanders while fighting to expose the crimes of a powerful organization known as the Directorate.

What began as a secret pre-war initiative to pursue life extension evolved into something far darker. For over two centuries, the Directorate has treated humanity as its laboratory, conducting brutal experiments in pursuit of power and control.

The player is drawn into the conflict when Reggie Martinez reaches out on Gloria's behalf. What begins as a mission to save a single life soon uncovers a much larger threat. Working alongside pre-war survivors, ghouls, and wastelanders devoted to resistance, you'll uncover the truth behind the Directorate and help shape the future of both factions.

About the Project

The World

For two centuries, the Directorate has operated from the shadows, treating humanity as a laboratory in pursuit of power and control. Survivors disappear. Experiments continue behind sealed doors. Rumors travel through settlements about people taken and never seen again, while whispers of strange facilities and hidden operations spread across the Commonwealth.

For those living Underground, safety is never guaranteed. Hidden bases, coded messages, and trusted allies mean the difference between survival and exposure. Every new recruit is a risk. Every mission carries consequences. In a world where powerful forces have spent generations watching, hunting, and experimenting, staying hidden can be just as dangerous as being found.

Series of cartoon characters engaged in various activities, including a man with a beard smiling, a woman with glasses holding a notebook, another woman with glasses showing a device, a smiling woman with blonde hair giving a thumbs-up, an elderly man watering a plant, and a cat with reddish fur.

The Crew

"For two hundred years, I've watched them try to reshape humanity based on some distorted ideal. The Directorate believes time is on their side, but I've lived just as long — waiting for the right moment to expose their crimes."
